Ingredients:
- 2 large apples (approx. 300g)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (2.6g)
- 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg (0.5g)
- 0.0625 tsp fine sea salt (0.2g)
Instructions:
- Prep the apples. Wash and core the 2 large apples (300g), keeping the skin on for extra fiber and color.
- Slice with precision. Use a mandoline to create 1.5mm thin rounds. Note: Consistency is the key to a uniform crunch.
- Mix the spices. In a small bowl, whisk together the 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg, and 0.0625 tsp sea salt.
- Coat the slices. Toss the apple rounds in a large bowl with the spice mix until every surface is lightly dusted.
- Preheat the gadget. Set your air fryer to 150°C (approx. 300°F). Note: A lower temp prevents the sugars from scorching.
- Layer the basket. Arrange the slices in a single layer, slightly overlapping if needed, but do not stack them deep.
- Air fry first phase. Cook for 10 minutes, then pause to flip each slice.
- Air fry second phase. Continue cooking for another 8-10 minutes until the edges are curled and slightly browned.
- The Cooling Snap. Remove the chips and place them on a wire rack. Note: They will feel slightly soft when hot but will shatter crisp as they cool.
- Final Check. Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving to ensure maximum crunch.
