- 6 slices (180g) whole grain bread
- 1/2 cup (125g) creamy peanut butter
- 1 large (200g) Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apple
- 1/2 tsp (1g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
Instructions:
- Slice the apple into thin, uniform half-moons. Toss the slices in a small bowl with the lemon juice and ground cinnamon to prevent oxidation and distribute flavor.
- Lay the bread slices flat and spread a generous layer of peanut butter onto the interior side of all six slices, ensuring it reaches the edges to create a moisture barrier.
- Layer the cinnamon-coated apple slices onto three of the bread pieces, overlapping them slightly.
- Top with the remaining peanut butter-coated bread slices and gently press down to lock the apples into the butter.
