Ingredients:

  • 12 pieces low-fat mozzarella string cheese (336g)
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten (100g)
  • 1 cup seasoned Panko breadcrumbs (60g)
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder (2.5g)
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano (1g)
  • 1 pinch sea salt (0.5g)
  • 0.5 cup low-sodium marinara sauce (120g)

Instructions:

  1. Unwrap the 12 pieces of low-fat mozzarella string cheese (336g). If they feel oily, pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Set up a three-bowl dredging station: Bowl 1 with all-purpose flour; Bowl 2 with beaten eggs; Bowl 3 with panko, garlic powder, and oregano.
  3. Roll each frozen cheese stick in flour and shake off excess. Dip in egg, then roll in panko. Repeat the egg and panko steps a second time to create a reinforced shell.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 200°C (400°F). Spray basket with olive oil spray and arrange sticks in a single layer. Cook for 5–6 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Alternatively, for oven baking, preheat to 220°C (425°F). Place sticks on a wire rack over a baking sheet and bake until golden, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately with warmed low-sodium marinara sauce.
