Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (approx. 100g)
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper soda, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter and granulated sugar together until combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture looks silky.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt, stirring gently with a spatula.
  5. Slowly pour in the room temperature Dr Pepper soda. Stir just until the streaks of flour disappear; do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips using a few broad strokes.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with your spatula.
  8. Bake for 30–32 minutes until the edges are set and the center remains slightly soft.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper.
