Ingredients:
- 1 box (510g) fudge brownie mix
- 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup (30g) flaky sea salt
- 1/2 cup (75g) maraschino cherries, halved
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- Stir the room temperature Dr Pepper into the butter and egg mixture.
- Gradually add the brownie mix, folding with a spatula until just combined. Stop as soon as flour streaks disappear to maintain a fudgy texture.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. If using, gently press the halved maraschino cherries into the surface.
- Bake for 30–32 minutes. The brownies are done when the edges are set and pulling away from the sides, but the center still has a slight jiggle.
- Remove from oven and garnish with flaky sea salt if desired.
