Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in olive oil, salt, and flour until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Roll the dough out to fit your baking sheet.
  7. Prick the surface of the dough all over with a fork (docking) to prevent large bubbles.
  8. Bake the plain crust for 8-10 minutes until the crust looks set and is a pale gold color.
  9. Brush the edges of the par-baked crust with the melted butter and garlic powder.
  10. Add your desired sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  11. Return the pizza to the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the edges have turned a deep mahogany-colored brown.
