Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) baking powder
- 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper soda, room temperature
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- Whisk the melted butter and granulated sugar together until combined.
- Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gently fold in the Dr Pepper soda; do not overmix to preserve the carbonation.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are firm and slightly pulled away from the sides, but the center remains slightly jiggly.
