Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper soda, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. Whisk the melted butter and granulated sugar together until combined.
  3. Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gently fold in the Dr Pepper soda; do not overmix to preserve the carbonation.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are firm and slightly pulled away from the sides, but the center remains slightly jiggly.
