Ingredients:
- 1 cup (60g) white bread, cut into ¾-inch cubes
- 1 tbsp (15g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg (approx. 50g)
- ¼ cup (60ml) whole milk
- 1 tbsp (15ml) maple syrup
- ½ tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp (1ml) vanilla extract
- 1 pinch (1g) salt
Instructions:
- Grease the inside of a 12 oz microwave-safe mug with a small amount of butter.
- Place the bread cubes into the mug and drizzle with melted butter, tossing gently to coat.
- In a separate small bowl or directly in the mug, whisk together the egg, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard liquid over the bread cubes and use a fork to gently press the bread down until every piece is fully submerged and saturated.
- Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Stop when the center is set but still has a slight jiggle.
- Let the mug sit for 1 minute to allow carry-over heat to finish cooking the center without overcooking the edges.
