Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (60g) white bread, cut into ¾-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp (15g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg (approx. 50g)
  • ¼ cup (60ml) whole milk
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) maple syrup
  • ½ tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp (1ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch (1g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Grease the inside of a 12 oz microwave-safe mug with a small amount of butter.
  2. Place the bread cubes into the mug and drizzle with melted butter, tossing gently to coat.
  3. In a separate small bowl or directly in the mug, whisk together the egg, milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard liquid over the bread cubes and use a fork to gently press the bread down until every piece is fully submerged and saturated.
  5. Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Stop when the center is set but still has a slight jiggle.
  6. Let the mug sit for 1 minute to allow carry-over heat to finish cooking the center without overcooking the edges.
