Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper soda, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. Whisk the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and Dr Pepper until the mixture is glossy and uniform.
  3. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt directly into the wet mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until no streaks of flour remain. Fold in the chocolate chips last.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
