Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) Dr Pepper soda, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- Whisk the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and Dr Pepper until the mixture is glossy and uniform.
- Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt directly into the wet mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the ingredients together until no streaks of flour remain. Fold in the chocolate chips last.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
