Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (100g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp (3g) salt
  • ½ tsp (2g) baking powder
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large (100g) eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120ml) regular Dr Pepper
  • ¾ cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder until no large clumps remain.
  3. Stir the melted butter into the dry mixture, then add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until a thick paste forms.
  4. Gradually pour in the Dr Pepper and stir gently until the batter is smooth and glossy.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing to ensure the fudgy structure sets.
