Ingredients:
- 1 cup (100g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- ¾ cup (95g) all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp (3g) salt
- ½ tsp (2g) baking powder
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large (100g) eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) regular Dr Pepper
- ¾ cup (130g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder until no large clumps remain.
- Stir the melted butter into the dry mixture, then add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until a thick paste forms.
- Gradually pour in the Dr Pepper and stir gently until the batter is smooth and glossy.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing to ensure the fudgy structure sets.
