Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp honey
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 8 oz low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
Instructions:
- Combine warm water, honey, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until a foamy surface forms.
- Stir in the olive oil and salt, then gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until the surface is smooth and non-sticky.
- Divide the dough into two equal balls. Use a rolling pin to flatten them into ovals approximately 1/4 inch thick.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Place the dough ovals on parchment paper.
- Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Brush the exposed dough edges with olive oil.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the edges are mahogany-colored.
- Remove from the oven and top immediately with fresh torn basil leaves.
