Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Instructions:

  1. Pat the chicken thighs completely dry with paper towels. Note: Moisture on the surface creates steam, which prevents a golden crust.
  2. Season both sides evenly with 1/2 tsp kosher salt and 1/2 tsp ground black pepper.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in your oven safe skillet over medium high heat.
  4. Sear chicken thighs for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and sizzling.
  5. Whisk together 1/3 cup honey, 3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, and 1/2 tsp onion powder in a bowl.
  6. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the seared chicken. Note: Ensure every inch of the meat is coated to prevent dry spots.
  7. Transfer the skillet to a preheated 400°F (200°C) oven.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken halfway through until the sauce is glossy and the internal temperature hits 165°F.
  9. Remove from oven and let the meat rest for 5 minutes. Note: This allows the juices to redistribute so the meat stays velvety.
